HDB has been painting visible light for 35+ years. His safari into the realm of color has been a lifelong process of study and exploration. Since visible light is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that our eyes can see, our whole world is oriented around it. The color of an object is not contained within the object. The color is the result of the light which strikes the object and is reflected by it. This is what HDB has been trying to harness on its purist, most abstract level while infusing one more variable into the mix. Imagination. Within the context of such a reality – or surreality – we may well encounter red skies, blue sunsets and a whole new way to perceive color and the subjects or shapes which reflect it.
